AIJA Americas Meeting 2023

During AIJA Americas Meeting 2023, Joaquin de Obarrio participated as a moderator of the panel Investment International Arbitration: An outlook from the Americas, which discussed the recent increase in the number of cases that foreign investors have submitted to Investment Arbitration.

The conversation included comments on the various free trade agreements in the region which have facilitated the use of arbitration, as a feasible alternative when domestic remedies have not been effective in solving conflicts between foreign investors and host States.

Joaquin was joined on the panel by Mariana Gómez-Vallín (Von Wobeser y Sierra, S.C. Mexico), Margie-Lys Jaime (Panama) and reknowed arbitrator Dr. Carlos Arrue Montenegro (Panama).
