María Teresa Díaz

Partner of Patton, Moreno & Asvat, she specializes in Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Shipping and Ship Finance Law. With an outstanding trajectory of more than 30 years, María Teresa is well recognized within the Maritime industry. She has been advising the top ship owning companies, ship managers, banks and financial institutions around the world, handling their maritime and corporate interests. Her professional reputation has been awarded by the main industry guides, such as Chambers & Partners, Who´s Who Legal, Legal500, Latin Lawyer, among others. 

Maria Teresa obtained a Bachelor Degree in Law and Political Sciences from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua, (Magna Cum Laude); University of Pennsylvania, Law School (Legvm Magistrae).

She was member of the Drafting Commission of Law 57, August 6th, 2008, on Panama Merchant Marine.

Author of "The Patria Potestad Under Panamanian Civil Law", Thesis, 1986; "The notice of Defect under the U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, The Laws of the United States and the Latin American Countries", 1987. Co- author of the Chambers Global Practice Guide for Shipping Law – Panama Chapter, since 2018.
