Founding partner of Patton, Moreno & Asvat. He obtained his Bachelor in Law and Political Science, Summa Cum Laude from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua, plus a Magistri in Legibus at Harvard University, Faculty of Law.
Mr. Asvat was Professor of Private International Law at Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua from 1980 -1993, he was also Legal Advisor of the Indian Society of Panama and President of the Islamic Foundation for Social Assistance in 1987. He served as Legal Counselor to the Vice-President of the Republic of Panama and Chief of the Panamanian Police Force from 1989 to 1991. He was President of Geo-Media, S.A., parent company of El Siglo and La Estrella de Panama, daily newspapers in Panama, from 2001 to 2011. Also, he was Secretary of Goals from 2004-2005 during the government of former President of Panama, Martin Torrijos.
Author: He is the author of “La Cláusula Penal”, 1979; "Bank Secrecy" 1980 and President’s Logbook (2011); Panama Chapter of Getting the Deal Through Dispute Resolution guide (2018).
He has served as a trustee for FE TV, a local non-profit television station. Founder of MiBanco, a private micro-credit institution and founder of the Amador Foundation (Biodiversity Museum). He is currently a trustee for an Endorsement fund of Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua. Columnist and Political Analyst.
